Dry Skin

A detailed routine for dry skin

dry cracked skin

AM

  • Step 1: Hydrating Cleanser

Start the day with a an oil or cream cleanser. This will gently clean the skin without stripping your skin of moisture.

  • Step 2: Chemical Exfoliant

You may wonder why I’ve added a chemical exfoliant to a dry skin care routine. Surely this will your dry out your skin even more? Fret not! Lactic Acid or Glycolic Acid is actually super beneficial for the skin. They help buff away any dead skin cells which reduces dry patches and reveals a smoother, brighter, even skin tone.

  • Step 3: Hyaluronic Acid Serum/Essence

Another Acid! But don’t worry Hyaluronic Acid may sound like another exfoliant but it actually deeply hydrates the skin. You could also use an Essence serum such as dragons’ blood, green tea or rose which add immediate hydration and plump up the skin.

  • Step 4: Moisturiser with SPF

Apply a rich or repairing moisturiser that will lock in all the goodness of the previous steps. Make sure to get a moisturiser with a good SPF rating. Sun protection is essential for all skin, especially if using any acids or retinoids.

  • Throughout the day: Hydrating Facial Mist

A rosewater or aloe mist will help refresh your skin.

PM

  • Step 1: Double Cleanse:

For your first cleanse use an oil. This will remove makeup, dirt, and SPF without drying out the skin. For your second cleanse use a cream for a deeper clean. This will unclog pores , plump the skin and nourish it.

  • Step 2: Eye Cream

A hydrating or repair eye cream will help restore moisture and brighten tired, lacklustre skin.

  • Step 3: Vitamin C Serum

Let your serum dry for 15 minutes so it fully absorbs. When using acids you want to hydrate your skin immediately so spritz your face with your favourite mist while you wait. Vitamin C brighten & hydrates the skin while also evening out the skin tone and protecting the skin from free radicals.

  • Step 4: Facial Oil

An oil such as rosehip or marula are great for hydrating and calming your skin. Oil penetrates the skins outer layer, fortifying the skin.

  • Step 5: Heavy Moisturiser

A rich moisturiser will deeply nourish and soothe dry skin. While locking in any oils or serums applied to really give you the full benefit of them so you wake up with glowly, bright and hydrated skin.
